City launches new public engagement with impacts for housing on City-owned land

On Monday, February 1, the City of Vancouver launched another consultation process regarding the future of False Creek South. This is a Vancouver-wide consultation that is being led by the City Manager’s Office and Real Estate Services—from the perspective of the City operating in its role of “landowner.”

According to the City: “The purpose of this engagement is to explore the future of these lands, for the next 50 years and beyond, while striving to balance the interests of current neighbourhood residents with those of all Vancouver residents who own this land.” 

This is a precedent-setting initiative because it is the first time that the City has started Planning/Real Estate Planning on City-owned lands where there are existing homes. 

The consultation process is open until February 28 and is open to all residents of Vancouver.

1. Take the “Shape Your City Survey” on this issue: https://shapeyourcity.ca/fcslands.
2. Online events in which local residents and Vancouver residents alike can participate. No restrictions (yet) in the number of participants in the online group meetings.
