In response to the City's public consultation on False Creek South (which ends this Sunday, February 29), RePlan has issued a public statement to the media. Nine years after the first City Council motion calling for City staff to address leases in False Creek South, little progress has been made, leaving some low and moderate income residents with as few as 10 months left on their lease. September has proven to be a busy month for lease-related, virtual meetings with City of Vancouver staff. Following the July 6 meeting with RePlan and City Council, both the Authorized Working Group of Co-ops and the Strata Leaseholders Society have continued to meet with City staff to discuss the City’s co-op lease discussion paper, the SLS’s Simple Plan proposal, and to advocate for False Creek South leaseholders.
Nathan Edelson and Sharon Yandle spoke to Redeye Collective to discuss the future of this area in a city where densification is the byword of the day.
Patrick Condon's Tyee article "Vancouver Looks Poised To Sell Off False Creek" generated waves of concern among residents of the Creek. Kathryn Woodward contacted Condon to clear up the confusion.
