City will bring 7 completed co-op leases to Council in September

Co-op talks kick-started following meeting with City Manager

False Creek South housing co-op reps met with the City’s General Manager of Community Services in early January to say False Creek Co-ops were ready to proceed with lease renewal negotiations. Unfortunately, City staffing shuffles and other factors resulted in little progress until May, when *RePlan representatives met with the City Manager Sadhu Johnson.

Mr. Johnson communicated a desire to expedite what has been a protracted process and break through the barriers holding up a resolution. *RePlan representatives also underscored the urgency of lease resolution to City Council at its May 16 meeting. (add link to council story)

Since that initial meeting, the City Manager has held several sessions with both *RePlan’s strata and co-op working groups to discuss lease issues.

On May 25th, four City representatives met with *RePlan’s Authorized Co-op Working Group (AWG) and stated:

  • The City’s intention to have at least seven co-op leases ready for Council approval by September 2018

  • At least one and potentially two co-ops from False Creek South will be included in this group of seven

These discussions with City staff are ongoing.
