Here are some examples of the community support we are receiving for our Syrian family:

I live in False Creek South, would like to contribute.  Have voluntered through the years as a formal/informal ESL teacher  so—-or any other way that I can be useful.  I am retired and have time.

Many thanks for your initiative to welcome a Syrian refugee family to False Creek.  I’d like to help.  I can contribute:

– financially (will mail a cheque)

– help the family find a doctor

– donate household goods or clothing

We received your email via our False Creek South Neighbourhood delegate. We will drop a cheque over to the community centre, but we’d also like to offer our time.

My husband is a bus driver and he’d be happy to help our new neighbours learn to navigate the transit system. We’d also love to invite them to our home for dinner and would be happy to help with babysitting and English practice. Our kids are 11 and 8 and they’d be glad to teach some games etc.

Just let us know what’s needed!!

And here another message from the community:

We can contribute in many ways – like childcare, or organising meet-ups with Syrian families to have play groups with families in our building to help introduce their kids to Canadian songs and games and also make new friends.

Thank you to everyone who already pledged their support. We are amazed by the amount of feedback we are receiving.
